No shooting in Chicago Over Mothers Day Weekend
Father Michael Pfleger held a press conference at St. Sabina Church, on Chicago’s southside. The press conference was in response to the violence that’s been on in Chicago. A ceasefire has been called in Chicago over the Mother’s Day weekend in honor of the mothers that have lost children to violence throughout the city. As of May 4th 2016 over 1,100 shootings have already happened in the city of Chicago. Usually most of the violence in Chicago so happens during the summertime on the hottest days of the year. There has already been more violence this spring than entire years.
These organizations came to this event show support:
Purpose over Pain
St. Sabina
Rainbow Push
Parents for Peace and Justice
Chicago Survivors
Illinois Counsel Against Hand Gun Violence
Gun Violence Prevention
Moms Demand Action (Illinois)
Kids Off The Block
It’s a shame that there’s so much violence in Chicago and I was glad to see, somebody’s trying to do something about it. We need to support events like this more. That’s why WWBC Media was there capturing videos and pictures so we can spread the word to as many people as possible. Remember there is strength in numbers. And the day is always darkest before the dawn. So even though it’s bad in Chicago now, if we continue to get the message out, eventually there will be a change.
As you can see in the video is attached to this post, Father Pfleger asks everyone to do their part to spread this message and put it on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. To get the word out to as many people as possible. So please comment, like ,and share this blog post. Or if you are a blogger please reblog this even if you rewrite in your words or even if you copy and paste it I don’t care just get the message out.
