2I might have to make the switch from Nikon to Canon.  For years Nikon has been ahead of Canon in the Megapixels department, but Canons is answering back with the EOS 5DS and EOS 5DSR.  Which is 50.6 Megapixels!  The EOS 5DS is the highest-resolution full-frame DSLR in history.  The closest thing has to that is Nikon’s D810 which is 36.6 megapixels.  The specs on the EOS 5DS are: 50.6 Megapixels, viewfinder with 0.71x magnification and 100 percent coverage, HD 1080p video,61-point autofocus system, and Usb 3.0 for faster data transfer.

The Down Falls

This camera only shoots at 5 frames per second when it’s on it’s highest resolution. The ISO maxes out at only 6,400. Another down fall is this this camera can only shoot HD at 1080p.  With this senor, this camera should be shooting video at 4K.  If this was 4K I would sell everything and buy this camera.  But, remember Sony make the senors for both Nikon and Canon and they would be in direct competition with Sony’s Pro Video line if they were 4K.

The 5DS will start at $3,699 for the body only and is expected to ship in June 2015.  My suggestion is to hold off on Canon’s 50 Megapixel EOS 5DS Full Frame DSLR.  Let them work out a few down falls, read some reviews, and see how Nikon responds.  Rumors say Nikon make offer 4k video in the new D820 or Apps at can collage high resolution pictures into video. But, in the mean time advantage Canon.
