CBS Supergirl Pilot Review

SupergirlCBS is launching Supergirl in the Fall.  I got my hands on the pilot and here’s my review.  Instead of calling the character Jimmy Olsen they call him James.  They made James a cool black dude, and that’s really the only original thing in this show.  There was so many cliches with this show. Even Supergirl’s boss (Ally McBeal) is playing Mr.Jameson, or Peter Parker’s boss. They have an Army General that doesn’t trust anybody. Supergirl got that one friend that likes her that she doesn’t pay any attention to, but eventually they’ll windup hooking up.

She has girl problems: can’t pick out a good date. Can’t fit in. She thinks everything is her fault. She gets sad and cries on the couch. She literally described the moment before you kiss somebody. Sibling rivalry between Supergirl and her human sister. Supergirl’s sister actually got mad at her because she saved her from a burning airplane. It was really a turn off when they brought feminism into the show. And most importantly and keep in mind I realize I’m no Brad Pitt ,but this led character needs to be hot. Every Clark Kent from 1950 to 2015 is a model with glasses on. This actress, Melissa Benoist looks like your plan B to ask to the prom. Supergirl shouldn’t look like the girl next door. There’s a computer technician named Felicity on Arrow (Emily Bett Rickards) she would be a perfect actress to play Supergirl. You need a hot geek blonde not just an average forgettable face.  There were way hotter girls at Chicago’s Comic Con.  Not being sexiest either because every man that plays a super hero on TV is handsome.  No homo, but look at Arrow, dude got an 8 pack. Again no homo, not saying his good looking but, he’s not average looking.

The trailer spoiled the whole pilot. This is like a crappier version of Smallville. There are some minor differences she can fly unlike Clark Kent on Smallville. I want to see a superhero TV show take the series in a whole different direction like The Hulk in the 80’s, Smallville in the 2000’s, or The Flash now. I realize I’m being really hard on this pilot. And pilots usually suck. When The Flash first came on, I didn’t like the first couple episodes. I really didn’t start watching until mid season. At first, I thought the actor was too skinny to play The Flash. It wasn’t until mid season that I really got into the show.  I’ll watch Supergirl’s finale to decide if I’ll watch season 1 on Netflix.
